Nordex obtains new unit certificate for its N117/3000 wind turbine

The Nordex Group has received unit certification for its N117/3000 wind turbine. It is for VDE-AR-N 4120, the technical requirements for the connection and operation of customer installations to the high-voltage network (TCC High Voltage), and was granted by FGH Zertifizierungsgesellschaft mbH in Mannheim. The new the certificate will soon be a pre-requisite for wind turbines connected to the German high-voltage transmission grid. As of July 2017, certification will be a pre-requisite for connection to the German high-voltage grid (110 kV) and the operation of turbine generators. The unit certificate confirms that the N117/3000 successfully and without restriction meets the VDE-AR-N-4120 guidelines in the event of surges, supporting voltage in the event of grid faults by providing reactive current in the positive/negative sequence. By obtaining unit certificate at this early stage means that Nordex customers can now make more dependable plans for projects with the N117/3000 before the end of the TCC High Voltage transition period. In addition to this, Nordex’s own wind-farm controller (EZA controller) is being certified by FGH Zertifizierungsgesellschaft mbH. The EZA controller controls the active and reactive power supply by individual Nordex wind-turbine generators, and is in line with the current requirements of the operator at the grid connection point. Nordex will also shortly be receiving the unit certificates for the remaining wind turbines from the Gamma and Delta platforms, as well as the component certificate for the wind farm controller.
